Exchange 2007 SP3 Install on 2008R2 Fails with "The data passed to a system call is too small"
I'm installing Exchange 2007 SP3 onto Server 2008 R2. I have run this install in compatibility mode and in normal install mode with the same results. Error code 3221684346: The data area passed to a system call is too small. I am installing directly from the SP3 files, this is not an upgrade. What do I have to do to get this to work? Agree with these guys, rather than wasting time in troubleshooting it, you should reformat the machine and start the installation again.Gulab | MCTS-MCITP: 2010 | MCTS-MCITP: 2007 | MCC | Skype: gulab.mallah

I know this issue has been marked solved allready but in case anyone comes looking I would suggest that you try to run the SP3 update from a command line. Setup /m:upgrade

This is right Decens, It is strongly recommended to install the Microsoft Exchange 2007 Service Pack 3 through Command Prompt in order to follow the steps: click on Start then RUN and type CMD in Command Prompt interface type "cd\" and then guide your command where the location of service pack 3 installtion file (i.e.: i extracted my installtion file to J:\EXCSP3) then type "cd J:\excsp3" and after that it will jump into the second line "J:\excsp3>" directly type the command "setup /m:upgrade" and i am 100% sure it will install the servie pack 3 with ZERO error Enjoy Guys :-)
